MORE HOMEWORK FOR ALTENEW ACADEMY

Have two more cards for the Progressive Cardmaking 2 class.

The top card is from day 2 where Justine used an origami folded square made from patterned paper.  After several tries I finally was able to make a decent little folded square.  I had to find my thinnest paper as heavier ones just cracked or I had really hard time getting the fold straight.  I used a circle cover plate to give some texture to the background.  Will add a sentiment when I decide who will receive it.

Day 3 was all about embossing folders.  I used a favorite - Beautiful Berginia - on black cs. Then I brushed gold Perfect Pearls over the surface, trimmed the piece to 3"x4.25 and mounted on the card base with foam tape.  Added the little sentiment and done.

Thanks for dropping by today.

ENVELOPE POSIES

Have a pretty birthday card for you today using the envelope and flowers from the January 2020 MMH kit which is now available in the HA catalog.  These stamps and dies were voted as the favorite kit for 2020 - and they're now available for all of you who missed out on buying them last year!  You'll find them on p. 29 of the new catalog.

I first die cut a bunch of the flowers and leaves and blended on base colors.  Also used flowers from this new set.  Then shaded with copics to give them some depth.  I stamped script (very old HA stamp) on the envelope with my favorite HA black ink.  Arranged my bouquet in the envelope, added the sentiment, a few clear enamel dots and done!  I used a circle cover plate die on my card base for extra interest and texture.
There's still one more day to enter your "Anything Goes" card in our current challenge for a chance to win one of two HA gift certificates.

Thanks for stopping by today.

POCKETFUL OF POSIES

Today I'm up as lead designer for TicTacToe Challenge #102.  I had fun designing my board and hope you'll find a row that challenges you.

I went down the right side for my card - thinking of you, stitching and flowers.

I die cut a bunch of the flowers and arranged them in the little heart pocket.  Used two stitch border dies to emboss a frame on a pale gray card base.  Added the sentiment and done.

I hope you'll join in our challenge this week - have fun creating a wonderful card!

ALTENEW ACADEMY DAY 2

Justine's challenge homework for us on day 2 of Progressive Cardmaking was to try the same design with different size borders.  Since I had the large peony bloom on my desk, I just went with that as my stamp.

I stamped the flower on a piece 4.25x5.5" cs and masked it for stamping the leaves.  Then I masked off the edges with some 1" post-it tape and blended the blue inks in the center.  Trimmed it to 3.45x5" and mounted on an A2 card base.  Left off a sentiment until I need a card with a particular sentiment.

For my second card, I kicked up the stamping a notch. With the MISTI, I stamped the flower and the leaves on an A2 card base and a piece of 4.25x5.5" cs.  Then I trimmed the single sheet and did the ink blended rectangle.  Matched this piece to the card base, added the sentiment and some sequins and done.  On both cards I used a blue set of Altenew inks and their small blending brush.

Thanks for stopping by today.

MASKING AND EMBOSS RESIST

I'm taking Justine Hovey's Altenew Academy class (Progressive Cardmaking 2) which began today - thought I needed a little boost to my creativity.  Today Justine demoed several ways to give something extra to your cards.  I combined two of them - masking and embossed resist.

I used a pale pink cardstock for my base and stamped the large bloom and embossed in white.  Made a mask for my flower and ink blended around it.  Then used the same colors for some blending in the center of the flower.  Trimmed my panel down and adhered on an ivory base.  Stamped a sentiment from the same stamp set and fussy cut.  Added it over the flower along with some clear enamel dots and homework finished for day 1!!

Thanks for stopping by.

Peach and green are the challenge colors for the current Color Hues Challenge and also the colors at Just Add Ink.

I used some paint chips for both the layered flower and the leaves - added a few clear enamel dots for a little texture.  Die cut a piece of kraft cs with a wonky rectangle and spattered with some white gouache.  Put it all together on a kraft base and done.

Thanks for stopping by.

FLOATING LEAVES

CAS Mix-Up challenge wants us to use a stencil with heat embossing this month.

Used a leaf stencil to create my background and embossed in white - mounted on a kraft card base.  Die cut the peony and leaves and added them along with the little sentiment.  Besides the stencil and heat embossing, I have stitching (leaf background piece) and die cutting for the mix-up.

Thanks for stopping by.

AAA BIRTHDAY

AAA Birthday wants a large sentiment for their February challenge.  Thought a slimline with a very large "happy" might just fill the bill.

I had made lots of those little flowers when creating another card and had fun arranging them around the large die cut sentiment.

SNOWFLAKES

The current Festive Friday Challenge is celebrating Polar Bear Day with their list prompts.  I chose blue, silver, snowflakes, vellum and heat embossing for my card.

I first embossed a piece of vellum with a snowflake embossing folder.  I just used tape runner on edges of vellum and it doesn't even show.  Die cut the large snowflake from silver metallic cardstock.  Also heat embossed the sentiment on the same silver cs.  Colored a few glittery enamel dots with an blue alcohol marker for a little added texture

SNOWY SCENE

I feel like I'm living in the Arctic but it's really Nebraska - temps hovering around zero - more snow predicted for tomorrow - I don't usually mind winter, but this is a little much!!!

I began by stamping and embossing (liquid platinum) the trees. Blended a background with weathered wood and stormy sky DO inks and spattered with some white gouache.  Tore some 80# cs for the snow and sprayed with some shimmer.  Arranged my trees in the snow, added the sentiment, clear enamel dots on the trees for a little extra glimmer and done!

I am entering my card at Christmas Kickstart (slimline), Just Add Ink (blended background) and SSS Wednesday Challenge (slimline).

Thanks for stopping by and take care.

POLKA DOTS

Ashwini has a fun board for us this week at Tic Tac Toe Challenge #100.

I went down the left side with yellow, polka dots and thanks.

I first stamped some yellow flowers and green leaves with black polka dots using an retired MFT set, Flashy Florals.  Sponged some darker yellow ink around the edges of the flowers so they would stand out a bit more.  Also embossed the card base with polka dots.  Assembled it all with a little thanks sentiment.  Added some black Nuvo dots in the center of the flowers for a bit more interest and done!

The winner of our challenge has a chance to be a future guest designer so be sure to enter.

SENDING MY LOVE

It's a new year of challenges at A Blog Named Hero and making it easy the theme is "Anything Goes".  Since it's so close to Valentine's Day,  I made a pretty floral card for you.

I first heat embossed the gorgeous HA/GinaK bouquet in gold and then spattered with some pinkish/red watercolor.  Next I used the HA rectangle dies to cut out the center section and then put it back together on a dark pink card base (looks rather red but really is a dark hot pink).  Added the little sentiment and few gold sequins and done.  The sentiment is from the January 2020 MMH kit but will be available in the new 2021 release from Hero Arts on 17 February.

Since I used a Gina K. stamp, I am entering my card at the Gina K. Challenge, ModSquad Challenge and Happy Little Stampers CAS all of which have the theme of "Love".

Join the ABNH fun and enter your card here for a chance to win one of two gift certificates from Hero Arts.  Note that the new dates for the challenge are from the 1st - 26th of the month.

LOVE

I discovered a fun fold card design yesterday that ramped up my mojo - you can find all the instructions on Bibi's blog

For my first card I colored the flower and leaves with colored pencils on gray cardstock.  Stamped the background with a retired HA flourish stamp in light gray.  On the second card I stamped the floral bouquet on wc paper, die cut the heart and used wc pencils to color - added a little more definition to the flower and leaves with regular colored pencils.

I'm entering the second card at the ModSquad Challenge and Happy Little Stampers CAS where the theme is "Love".  My first card is being entered at Freshly Made Sketches and at Die Cut Divas where they're asking for a fun fold card.
Thanks for stopping by.
