STENCILED CLASS

I haven't had much time to devote to this class, but did try out the use of embossing paste on several cards - two of which were rather successful.  Had a terrible time with warping and getting the paste put on smoothly.  So for what it's worth department, here is some homework.
The first card was just he result of playing around with paste on a stencil and a die cut which matched - I wanted sort of a shadow effect.  The second card is pretty much a total CASE of the card by Debby Hughes.  That was the one that had a lot of warping issues.  I made my own misting spray from Distress ink spun sugar reinker, some perfect pearls and water in a mini mister and used that on the butterfly card.  Then had some of the ink left over on my work surface after spraying so smushed a piece of cardstock in it and used that for the background on the leaf card.

Cardstock: HA carnation layering paper; SU river rock; Georgia Pacific white
Other: Tim Holtz stencil; SSS leaves stencil & die; MME enamel dots; Rcollections pearls; Liquitex light modeling paste; MB vivienne butterfly die; MS flower punch

STENCILED CLASS: Day 1

The topic for today was inking.  Debby Hughes made a lovely card and mine is a CASE of her card.  The hearts were sponged in Distress inks (spun sugar and pickled raspberry).  I have had the heart stencil for ages and no idea where I got it.
The inside of the card says "and Valentine wishes".

Inks: Ranger Distress Inks
Stamps: Wplus9 - Valentine Wishes
Other: MME enamel dots; Doodlebug twine; PTI vellum; HA embossing powder; Wplus9 tag die

GIFT BAG

I needed a gift bag or box to hold 10 cards and envelopes.  After some searching and fiddling around with different designs and measurements, this is the bag I made.
I used a design I found on Joy's blog.  Basically I used all of her directions, except I changed the measurements to 10" x 8 1/2" instead of the 12" x 12" she used.  I scored at 2 1/2" on 3 sides just as she did.  It makes quite a sturdy little bag and will hold even bulkier cards than what I had.  I'm happy with it.

Paper: PTI autumn rose

FUSION card challenge

There is a new challenge on Fusion.
I decided to use just the colors from the photo.
The lower portion is striped paper that I stamped in black and grey inks.  Inspiration for that part came from a shirt a woman in front of me in church was wearing last summer.  It was done in shades of blue and I quickly sketched on a scrap of paper so I wouldn't forget.  I know - I was supposed to be praying but sometimes the mind wanders:-)  The centers of the yellow flowers are seed beads adhered with glossy accents.

Thanks for looking.

Paper: PTI soft stone pp; American Crafts ash
Inks: Mememto tuxedo black and London fog
Stamp: Technique Tuesday - Anemone
Copics: Y 15, 17, 19 and  YG 61, 63

BIRTHDAY card

This is for a birthday card request from a friend whose granddaughter is turning 21. On the inside, I used "21" cut from the pink dotted paper and added "st".  There is room in the back of the pocket to tuck in a gift card or some cash.

Paper: MME Lost & Found
Die: PTI library card pocket
EB folder: Cuttlebug
Stamps: Wplus9 fresh cut florals
Twine: American Crafts

FUSION card challenge

One of my new year's resolutions (in the card department) was to start a blog and to enter challenges.  Have the blog so now on with the challenges.  This is for the Fusion challenge.
I decided to try to combine both the sketch and the photo - although that orange is way out of my comfort zone - actually couldn't do it and had to tone it down a bit.  Otherwise, I loved the sketch and it was really fun to do.  Weaving the leaves in and out was a little fiddly, but otherwise pretty easy.

Paper: PTI soft stone, ocean tides; HA layering paper charcoal; pp from my scraps
Dies:  SSS leaves; PTI Take Three
Other: MME enamel dot; PTI twine

HERO ARTS scramble!

The scramble challenge today was to use "something old, something new, something shiny, something blue".
I had just received a box from Ellen Hutson with some new dies (purchased with my lovely christmas gift cards!) so the "something new" part was pretty easy.

Something old = HA dogwood colored with copics
Something new = MFT peek-a-boo dots die
Something shiny = enamel dots from Teresa Collins
Something blue = flowers and background of dots
Card base is HA layering paper and sentiment is from Technique Tuesday

Thanks for looking today!

FAVES from 2013

After much deliberation, encouragement from fellow card makers, and a lot of fiddling around trying to create this blog, I am doing my first post.  I don't like to be front and center in any way, so this is a
rather scary venture for me.   But as Kath says - I pulled my big girl panties up and decided to have a go!

Decided I'd post my favorite cards from 2013 as a beginning.  Here goes!
As you can probably tell I'm most a flower/soft color card maker - and pretty much clean and simple.  All of these cards and a description of the products I used can be seen on my flickr photostream.

Well that's it for my initial post.  Thanks for looking and I hope to improve on this blogging business in the future.
