My cards today began with Jennifer McGuire's split card technique. I remembered she said it would work with a large flower and that she had used a layered die cut flower. Found it's a really BAD IDEA to use a mulit-layered flower die cut from 110 lb.cardstock - believe you would need an industrial strength paper cutter to get through the layers!!! DUMB ME!! So I managed to take it all apart and fixed - not quick and easy but then time is not a problem for me these days.
I had die cut multiples of the peony parts (Altenew's 3D Peony Dream) so used them for my second card. To make the background, I arranged the second layer around the edges. Colored the pink peony with various DO inks (worn lipstick, festive berries, abandoned coral, picked raspberry and rusty hinge). The gray leaves were leftovers from the first card.
I am entering these cards at Darnell's Twofer Challenge (flowers), Virginia's Show and Share, Addicted to CAS #184 (flower), and The Flower Challenge (monochromatic).
Gorgeous cards, Betty! I love how you used the split card technique on the first one...great job fixing it, too :) I also really love your peony! Beautiful colors and I love the die cuts in the background...so elegant!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great technique that is! You did Jennifer proud with your gorgeous split cards, Betty, and I admire your perseverance to take them apart and put them back together again. They look great whether schplattered or blinged! I also love your Twofer design in the pretty shades of pink! The textured and dimensional background is simply amazing. Thank you so much for playing in Twofer Card Challenge #27! Take care and keep well! Hugs, Darnell
ReplyDeleteIncredible Betty. I wasn't sure how layered flowers would go but you've proved they look amazing. I'm sticking to stamped flowers to start. Love your white flower and then the pretty pink one is stunning
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely gorgeous cards, Betty. Super well done.
ReplyDeleteJust love that layered peony die, Betty, and you made three gorgeous cards with it!! I had to laugh at your story of trying to split the flower. I'd probably be crying with frustration and still try to do it! Take care, friend!!
ReplyDeleteI just love these two cards, they are both so,so pretty!
ReplyDeleteI love the gorgeous results you achieved with the split flowers! I know it was a labor of love with those thick layers, but the depth really is beautiful! I also love how you used the white layers behind the main pink flower to add texture to your card! Thanks for joining in the fun with us at the Twofer Card Challenge!
ReplyDeleteGosh, all three are gorgeous, Betty ... the depth and dimension is fantastic ... and the clean look of all the white with the pops of yellow/grey and coral/frey on your blooms is beautiful! Thanks so much for playing along with us at Twofer! Anita :)
ReplyDeleteYou sure make magic with flower dies, Betty! LOVE all of these!
ReplyDeletehow beautiful...love what you created.
