FUSION #4 CHALLENGE

When I first saw the new challenge from Fusion, I immediately thought of the new papers from Graphic 45 "Sweet Sentiments".  The colors and butterflies in that paper fit so perfectly.

I added some embossing on the top (cut my folder in half again and hinged it from the side with painter's tape) and left off a sentiment as I will put it in my file for future use - I think it needs the sentiment inside anyway as it's a rather busy pattern.

Paper: HA "Midnight" layering paper for the base; Graphic45 patterned paper
Other: MB "Vivienne" butterfly; Card Concepts "Butterfly Kisses" embossing folder; SU candy dots

Thanks for looking and for your kind comments.  Betty

TWO CHALLENGES

I made this card with Dynamic Duos  and Papertrey Ink's Make-it Monday
challenges in mind.  Dynamic Duos challenge was to use yellow and black and PTI's was layering pigment ink with dye inks.  I had done the "velveteen" technique awhile back and had forgotten about it - so it was nice for Heather Nichols to revive it.

Stamps: HA "Flourishes", sentiment & embossing powder; PTI "Rosie Posie"
Inks: Colorbox "frost white"; Memento "tuxedo black" "dandelion" & "grey flannel"

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ROSES

I was going to throw the background paper in the trash because I got some darker ink mixed in with the pink and to me it looked rather messy.  But then, I decided to see if I could rescue it.  Jennifer Mcguire has been singing the praises of "liquid platinum" embossing powder and had to buy it.  So embossed the roses and leaves with it and it all sort of came together.  The dark spots didn't look so bad anymore.
The leaves were scraps left over from another project and actually were diecut from different papers, but when emobossed the base paper doesn't matter.  Am actually quite pleased with the end result and am glad I didn't toss that piece.

Stamps: PTI "Rosie Posie"; Technique Tuesday sentiment
Other: HA layering paper & embellishments; Ranger embossing powder; SSS leaf die; Perfect Pearls and Ranger distress ink "spun sugar" on background piece

FUSION CARD CHALLENGE #3

Just getting in under the wire for this challenge on Fusion Card Challenge.
I used some of the images from the photo (music, polka dots, hearts) but did my own thing with the colors and turned the sketch around to horizontal but still leaving a lot of white space.  The pink hearts are popped up, but otherwise a flat card.

Stamps: Hero Arts
Paper: PTI pp and card base
Other: Tim Holtz embossing folder, very old heart punches, MME enamel dots

Thanks for looking and as always, the lovely comments!   Betty

PRETTY PEONIES

I wanted to emboss the background for this card - already had the card cut and folded when I decided that I wanted that little extra texture and didn't want to add an extra layer.  But...the way embossing folders are made, the emboss would have been upside down and there was no way I knew of to do just the front.  So I cut it in half at the fold, carefully matched up the two pieces on just the front of the card and taped it all well in place - ran it thru and it worked perfectly.  I was happy!!

I trimmed the sides down to make it 4" by 5 1/2" and added the striped piece to cover where the embossing ended on the left side.  The striped paper and the paper I used for the flowers and leaves came from a new pad I bought at JoAnn's yesterday - MME "Chalk Studio" - and of course I had to buy the matching enamel dots!  I shaded the flowers and leaves with a little copic marker to give them a little more depth.  This is one of the cards that will go in my stash with a sentiment added when needed.

Stamps: PTI "Pretty Peonies"
Paper: HA layering paper; MME "Chalk Studio"
Other: CB embossing folder; Sizzix leaf die; Copic R20 & B0000

CARD FOR JOY - CCC

My new friend has received her card so I can now post it.

Joy and I were brought together in Deb Nolan's card chain challenge.  Each month Deb posts colors, a sketch and a theme - participants sign up and send a card to the person above their name.  It"s such a fun way to meet new cardmaker friends.  For this card I used all three of the elements - taupe, two shades of coral, the sketch and the theme of friendship.

Paper: HA layering paper, PTI melon berry, Studio Calico Classic Calico v. i
Stamp: HA
Other: MME enamel dot, PTI flower die

Thanks for looking and have a good weekend.  Betty
