A CARD FOR DAWN

This month I sent my CCC card to Dawn in New Zealand.  I used only the colors and friendship theme from the challenge with some Altenew flowers.

I made my card similar to a previous card as the colors were the same for both challenges - just did the floral arrangement a bit differently.  All the details for making a card like this are here.

ALL ABOUT EMBOSSING

This month it's all about embossing for the A Blog Named Hero challenge - any type goes!

The magnolia was stamped in black and clear embossed before watercoloring.  The background circles were dry embossed with the HA circle infinity dies.  Added my flower arrangement to the background with a little sentiment and placed it all on a soft gray card base.  There are some small Nuvo drops in the center of the flower to accent the stamen and some added texture.

Hero Arts has a challenge this month for National Craft Month and my card fits several of their categories.  Also will enter my card at a2z Scrapbooking where the challenge is "color it in".

PINK PEONIES

Ten years ago, a friend and I organized a bridge weekend at Lied Lodge in Nebraska City.  It was such a success that it has continued every year since - we usually have between six and eight tables of bridge starting on a Friday evening and continuing on thru Saturday.  One of the prizes for a winner is a set of cards which I create.

This year I used the new washi tape Pink Peonies from The Ton as the basis for my cards.  I'm not going into detail about each card but it was a fun personal challenge to create six different designs.

As a basis for all the cards I put the washi tape on white cardstock.

GRETA MADE ME DO IT!!

In our little challenge between Greta, Cat and myself, Greta challenged us to use stitching as part of the Hero Arts March crafting challenge.  I used to love doing counted cross stitch, but haven't done it in years since I've started making cards.  Last fall, Greta gave me two MFT tag cross stitch die cuts and this was the perfect opportunity to use them.

I don't know where the pattern for this is from - think it was something I saw on Pinterest but can no longer find it - sorry I can't give credit where due.

Stitched my little bunny using three strands of floss.  Made a frame for him and filled the gap on the bottom with flowers (the opening from the frame was larger than the tag part).  I made the same bunny in pink for Cat.  Now Greta is going to have to cut some more of these tags for me as I had such fun doing this.

My card is for week 4 - Any Craft Goes.  I'm also adding my card to Virginia's Show and Share.

A CHALLENGE AMONG CHALLENGES

Currently Hero Arts has a challenge going for National Craft Month and Greta, Cat and I have a little challenge within it.  Greta set the parameters - flowers, coloring and decorate an envelope.  We each are creating two of the same card and sending to each other - in a decorated envelope.

Even though product is not limited, I chose to use a flower from MMH kit (April 2016).  I first smooshed two pieces of watercolor paper each with distress ink pinks and greens.  Then embossed in black the flower and leaves.  Fussy cut them and added them to a background (I think Cat sent it to me), added the little sentiment and some Nuvo drops for the stamen.

My card also fits a2z Scrapbooking challenge this month for "color it in" and A Blog Named Hero's "embossing".

SENDING WISHES

Just received a new Hero Arts stamp - the lovely Beautiful Day Agapanthus set!

I started my card by smooshing some pink and yellow watercolors and when dry gold embossed the flowers along the side.  This was matted with the new Hero Hues azalea cardstock.  The sentiment is also from this new set and gold embossed on vellum which is wrapped around and adhered on the back. Finally added a few gold Nuvo drops.

A new challenge begins on 15 March - check it out at A Blog Named Hero - great prizes from Hero Arts!

Thanks for visiting today.

JUST US GIRLS

The current challenge at Just Us Girls is to use a background stamp - so I dusted off The Ton's Riotous Wildflowers for my card today.

Stamped my background with Versafine and embossed in gold.  Colored the main flower and added the little gold frame - then did a little more coloring for a spotlight effect.  Put it all together with the coordinating SU cardstock and a few Nuvo drops.

TURNABOUT WITH GRETA

In January when Concord & 9th introduced their new Everyday Bouquet Turnabout Toolkit, Greta and I both bought the kit.  Then neither one of us did anything with it - really bad!  So I challenged Greta to make a card and mail it to me this past week and I would do the same.

I used the turnabout jig to stamp the bouquet in the corner with Altenew Tea Party inks.  Added the die cut flower and leaves (also from the kit), some sequins and little sentiment.

Check out Greta's card here

Since this stamp set is new I'm entering it in Virginia's Show and Share for March.

WATERCOLOR WONDERS

This past week I decided to make cards with one stamp set and use different designs, color combinations and techniques.  I used my MISTI and made two of each background.  The stamp set I chose is Watercolor Wonders from Altenew - I think it came out in about 2015 and I've barely used it.  So far I've made about ten backgrounds so you may be seeing a lot of these flowers!!

I used all Hero Arts inks - three shades of peach and two greens.  Before mounting the flower arrangement I spattered some of the lighter green ink for a background.  I used a sketch from Freshly Made Sketches for my design - will enter this in their challenge for this week.  Finished it with a little sentiment and a few flat sequins.

SPRING FLOWERS

The other day Erum did a fun watercoloring technique and I decided to give it a try.  Just received the two sets of Altenew watercolor brushes and used them for my cards, but think you could use any that you may have.

I stamped and embossed a bunch of SSS Spring Flowers on some heavy watercolor paper.  Then I scribbled with the watercolor brushes, spritzed with water and let them dry.  Fussy cut the flowers and leaves.  The background is dry embossed with Altenew's Fine Frames.

I am entering my card in the current SSS Flickr challenge where the theme is "friendship".
