I am taking another Altenew class this week - 3D Floral Focus with Therese Calvird - and loving it. Am somewhat behind on making the cards, but have managed to get two of them done.
On Day 1 Therese just did a general overview and some very basic layering. Her card had a textured background so I used that for my card also.
I used a stencil from Taylored Expressions and some texture paste for my background. I die cut my hibiscus flowers and leaves from some paper that I had watercolored.
In today's class, Therese used patterned paper and washi tape on her card. I used both on my card - on the base is gold string washi tape and the rest of the flower and the leaves were cut from Reflection paper. To carry through the gold, I used a glue pen and added little foil bits to the flower and leaves. I thought that the washi tape needed more emphasis so added a strip down the side along with a narrow gold strip. I used coral bliss ink sponged on the background along with some gold metallic spatters. No sentiment - just a pretty card.
Thanks for stopping by and always love to read your kind comments.
I remember you getting that TE stencil--LOVE it as the background for that wonderful card, Betty! The second card is a stunner! Somehow I missed seeing about this class, but think I really should sign up!
ReplyDeleteLovely lovely! I especially love that embossed first card, but I also really like the patterned paper flower!
ReplyDeleteI love both of these Betty. Using the patterned paper for the flower is very inspiring. I've only got a couple of layering dies so wasn't going to take this class but seeing these makes me change my mind.
ReplyDeleteBoth your cards are gorgeous Betty.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful cards...so nice to see die cuts without the nasty white border! Really makes a distinctive difference, IMHO.
ReplyDeleteNow you have me thinking of signing up for the class --- super gorgeous cards.
ReplyDeleteWOW! These are both stunning Betty, love that the whole panel is patterned with the paste and your watercolour flowers sit perfectly on it. And what can I say about the gold... it's amazing!
ReplyDeleteTwo beauties, Betty! Especially love card two with the strip of gold and the metallic splatters!!
ReplyDeleteLovely cards - great colours. :)
