IF FRIENDS WERE FLOWERS...

I have no business making cards today since I have a zillion things to do before I'm off to London on Wednesday, but...!!

My friend, Cat, is the guest designer over at Inspired By All the Little Things and I just HAD to make a card.  The row of long stemmed flowers against the white inspired me.

I die cut all the little flowers from vellum and colored them on the back with copics.  Made the stems from twine and put them down with a fine line of glue (pretty messy - there must be a better way!)  The sentiment was stamped on a piece of vellum that was colored on the back with copic marker and then dotted with blending solution to give it sort of a cloudy look.  A few gold Nuvo drops on the flower centers finished it off.

I will absent for a few weeks but have a couple of posts scheduled and I'm sure I'll find some time to check out blogs while I"m gone (no sightseeing this trip, just family time).

Thanks for stopping by today and your wonderful comments always make my day!

  1. Oh my goodness, Betty--the perfect use of Cat's wonderful inspiration! What a delightful card! I don't know what glue you used, but Perfect Paper Adhesive is great for something like this since it doesn't show & it easily wipes or washes off your fingers. I pulled mine out from years ago after seeing someone cover a small square with it & then attach little rolled up papers on a scrapbook page with no worry about the glue showing. Wednesday--yikes! I'd be a basket case! Have a fabulous trip, my friend!

  2. I love that you chose vellum for your flowers and sentiment, Betty...so soft and lovely! I also love the long stems, even though I know your glue was a pest...sounds like Greta has a great solution to your problem :)
Have a safe trip and a wonderful visit with your family...you certainly deserve it!

  3. Wow, Betty, you did a first-rate CASE of Cat's beautiful card with your equally stunning card! Those flowers must be so light and pretty in real life the way you made them out of vellum and colored them from the back! (Thank you for the tip about how you made that cool cloud sediment strip!) The gold Nuvo drops are a great addition! Thank you so much for taking the time to play along at Inspired By All the Little Things! I hope you have a memorable time with family and safe travels to and from London! Hugs, Darnell

  4. Betty what a beautiful card. Your long stems were worth the trouble it took to lay them down. Your nuvo drop centers add such a lovely texture. Have a fabulous trip, and stay safe my friend.
