Earlier this week, Jennifer McGuire did a post on a letterpress technique using layering dies.  It looked so fun and easy that I had to give it a go!  It was a little more labor intensive than I thought it would be, but am pleased with my result.  I made three cards and can always make more now that I have the template made.

I used Altenew's Floral Fantasy dies to make the letterpress elements.  Used watercolor paper (my cheapo stuff worked fine) and various pink and green inks.  Found some pink cs for a matte and added it to a pale gray card base.  A few sequins and a sentiment finished it.

I am entering this at Seize the Birthday (texture) - difficult to see in the photo, but this technique really adds wonderful texture to a card.

Thanks for dropping by.

  1. Gorgeous color combo & beautiful card, Betty! Good for you taking on new techniques even when it isn't quick & easy!

  2. It's absolutely lovely! I also watched JM's letterpress video and thought the effect was great.. Haven't tried it as I have very few flower dies, as I prefer stamped images over die cuts.

  3. Gorgeous take on Jennifer's technique, Betty!! I watched the video too but haven't had a stab at this one yet. Looks amazing!!

  4. this is so elegant Betty. I must try out the technique too. You have really nailed it.

  5. Gorgeous card Betty. I'll have to look up the technique.

Thanks so much for taking the time to leave comments - they make my day!
