Darnell has started a new challenge called the Twofer challenge and it truly was a challenge for me - don't know why - maybe I just made too much of it. The first card (sympathy) came together easily, but it took a lot of playing around to come up with the second one. The challenge is to make two different cards with the same stamp for two different occasions and according to the challenge theme (feathers).
The sympathy card was silver embossed and then watercoloured with distress inks. The happy card is an "in and out" card using Jennifer McGuire's technique - I had done cards like this before, but not as a trifold. I left the inside sentiment off and will add birthday or some other suitable sentiment when the need arises. Used an old Hero Arts feather stamp for both cards.
I am also going to enter this in A2Z "new to me" challenge as making a trifold card was a first for me and haven't used that feather stamp in ages and also entering in SSS Monday challenge (birds of a feather).
Thanks for stopping by and hope you like my cards.
Fun challenge indeed. I think you made fabulous art for the challenges Betty, love them both! Thanks for linking up to our New To Me challenge gallery at a2z!

ReplyDeleteWOW! I'm really impressed with both cards, Betty! Beautiful watercoloring on your sympathy card and your 'in and out' card is gorgeous! I love how you created the stamped pattern on the front panel, too!
ReplyDeleteLovely creation!!!!
ReplyDeleteSuch different designs, Betty, and they convey such drastically different emotions between sympathy and happy! I love your gorgeous silver embossing and water color. It's a wonderful combination of colors. Your in and out card is a great way to show off that feather. I've not tried that on a tri-fold before either. Thanks for joining in on the fun a Twofer Card Challenge!
ReplyDeleteBetty, These two cards are so pretty. Just love both of them... and am very glad to have spotted them in the Twofer Gallery. :)
ReplyDeleteFabulous watercolouring over the silver softness of that lovely feather, Betty ... and such a beautiful, delicate look from your in and out card! Thanks so much for playing along with us at Twofer! Anita :)

ReplyDeleteHey Betty, me again. I think your cards would be perfect for the Simon Monday challenge - Birds of a Feather. See link: http://www.simonsaysstampblog.com/mondaychallenge/?p=11314
ReplyDeleteReally, really pretty cards. Love the colors you used, Betty.
ReplyDeleteTwo beauties with feathers, Betty! The inking around the silver embossing looks amazing & I love your trifold too!
ReplyDeleteWell, your cards were definitely worth the effort because they are stunning.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful cards... I love the card with watercolor så much
ReplyDeleteBetween you and me, Betty, I find this challenge really challenging, too! It all sounded so good in theory, but I didn't realize just how hard it was in practice until I went to make my own cards!! It really does make us stretch our design skills and I have to say your process resulted in two extraordinary cards! The watercolored sympathy card is soft, yet speaks volumes about love and loss and the tri-fold happy card is just that: happy! The feathery background, deep blue feather, and happy word overlay are sensational! Thank you so much for playing in my first Twofer Card Challenge!! Hugs, Darnell
ReplyDeleteBoth your cards are awesome. I love both of them.
ReplyDeleteThe sympathy card is wonderful -- although we all know that sending sympathy cards can be hard on both hands, this one is definitely one that would cheer up everyone.
Love the texture and the color scheme you used!
THank you for playing along with us over Simon Says Stamp monday challenge! We all hope to see you again soon! xx Zoey
